Great players are one of the keys to solid, winning football teams. The 2013 Army football signing class is full of players who can help Army win more in the future. In this segment ArmySports.com discusses the newly signed Black Knight defensive linemen.
With college football's national signing day concluded, ArmySports.com takes a look at the projected defensive players from the Black Knights' 2012 recruiting class. This list will not be completed until R- day as the
Army
staff will continue to fill out their direct roster and add players for the prep school.
After the defensive line struggles of the past few years, the staff has done a good job adding more size and athleticism to the front line. Army did miss out on a few of their top recruits but one of the Black Knights earliest recruits was
Andrew McLean
. He was a three-year starter from Broomfield high school in Colorado. McLean (6-3, 230 lbs.) is a First team All-State performer who chose Army over offers from
Air Force
,
Wyoming
, Yale, and Wofford last summer.
Caleb Newman
is another All-State defensive end from
Washington State
who is expected to be a direct admit. Newman (6-3, 225) runs very well and was very quick off the edge in high school. He chose the Black Knights over Air Force, Washington State and Eastern Washington.

Noah Allen
(6-1, 250) is a defensive end from Georgia who projects inside to defensive tackle in the Black Knights double eagle flex scheme. Noah had offers from FCS schools like Delaware, Furman and Tennessee State.
Tiano Pupungatoa
is a defensive tackle commit from River Falls high school in Wisconsin. Tiano is 6-5, 255 pounds and has surprising speed. He had offers from
Central Michigan
and South Dakota State.
Luke Felta (6-1, 230) is a potential defensive end or three-technique defensive tackle from
North Carolina
. Felta was a four year starter and earned All-Conference honors.
Jason Nix
is a 6-3, 220 pound defensive end from Missouri who looks like the ideal quick end in the double eagle flex defense. Nix injured his hamstring his junior season causing him to miss most of the season and the junior summer camps. As a result he was an under-the-radar recruit despite his Division I ability and speed. Nix will start his career at the United States Military Academy Prep School.
Another promising Missouri recruit is
John Voit
. Voit made 108 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, posted eight sacks and had an interception return for a touchdown his senior season. Voit earned First team All-State honors for his efforts and chose Army over offers from Southeast Missouri State, Tennessee-Martin, and Missouri State. John expects to start his career at USMAPS.
