REPORT: McIntosh, Mealy gone

Posted Sep 9, 2008

An ugly season just got uglier. Two players vital to Army's future will leave the academy according to a report. Army freshman quarterback Paul McIntosh and sophomore running back Patrick Mealy will transfer according to a report in the Times Herald-Record.

McIntosh was the most celebrated of Army's incoming plebe crop. He was a 3-star prospect and earned Mr. Football Indiana honors as a senior. McIntosh originally committed to Ball State before decommitting and choosing Army.

Mealy rushed for over 300 yards as a freshman and had 9 carries for 32 yards in his first two games this season. McIntosh had not seen action so far this season but had dressed out for each of the two games.

The Record report mentioned that McIntosh had ran the option offense well in practice. However, no reason was given for McIntosh or Mealy leaving.
