Freeman Headed to Army

Army head coach Rich Ellerson is looking to bring more athletic players to West Point. He's found a kid in California that's not afraid to be an Army officer. Quarterback Miles Freeman has committed to Army, according to a report in the Sacramento Bee.

Bee blogger Quwan Spears wrote that Miles Freeman was, "one of the best competitors I have ever seen in my 25 years doing this line of work."

Indeed, the athletic Freeman posted incredible numbers at Burbank high school including one game were he passed for over 300 yards. In that game Freeman had a 98-yard scoring pass and also run for touchdowns of 67, 2, and 1 yards. The Bee selected Freeman the player of the week for his exploits.

During his senior season, Freeman completed 68 of 121 passes for 1,284 yards, 13 touchdowns and 11 intereceptions. He also rushed for an impressive 1,356 yards and 19 touchdowns on 131 carries.

Freeman worked out at the Scout.com combine at Oakland, Ca. last spring and posted the fourth best 3-cone time and fifth best short shuttle time at 4.28 seconds.

Freeman also played cornerback at Burbank and could play that position at Army.

Freeman also had interest from UCLA, Navy and others in addition to Army.
