All-Service Academy- Offense

Posted Aug 17, 2009

Army slot back Patrick Mealy was named to the preseason All-Service Academy offensive team. Quarterback Chip Bowden received honorable mention honors.

Last year Patrick Mealy, a junior from Hyattsville, Md., rushed 18 for 97 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Mealy left the squad briefly after early season struggles but later rejoined the team. Mealy was also Army's top kick returner. He had a 63-yard return against Navy which was Army's longest kick return of the season. In 2007 Mealy rushed for 302 yards and caught 10 passes for 60 yards.

Chip Bowden, a junior from Plant City, Fla., rushed for 572 yards and a touchdown. He also completed 31 passes for 282 yards and 2 touchdowns.

In all seven Navy players, seven Air Force players and two Army players were included on the team. The All-Service Academy defensive squad is expected to be released tomorrow. Army will likely land three or four players on that team.
