Army intercepts Ball State four times to get to 2-1.
OFFENSIVE STAR OF THE GAME
QB No. 8
Trent Steelman
His statistics weren't that impressive; he completed just 3 of 7 passes for 58 yards and ran for only 39 yards. However, Steelman showed grit and toughness by staying in the game and leading his team to a victory despite suffering from a painful cracked rib. His 24-yard pass to Ali Villanueva near the end of the first half put Army ahead, 17-10.
DEFENSIVE STAR OF THE GAME
FS No. 6
Donovan Travis
Travis was on fire in the fourth quarter, picking off two passes. His 18-yard interception return for a touchdown virtually gave the Black Knights the game. The interception and score took a lot of pressure off the offense whose quarterback was playing with an injury.
UNSUNG HERO OF THE GAME
DT No. 92 Mike Gann
Mike Gann is truly an unsung hero on the defensive line. He's played well so far this season. During the fourth quarter his third down sack (with
Stephen Anderson
) of Ball State back up quarterback
Tanner Justice
helped thwart a Cardinals scoring threat. Gann finished the game with three tackles including two solos.
