The Army Black Knights baseball team capped off their 7-game road trip to Florida on Saturday night with a 12-2 loss to Ohio State. The loss dropped Army, who played some tough competition in the Sunshine State, to 6-7 overall as the Black Knights return to the friendly confines of Doubleday Field.

FLORIDA IN REVIEW

Army 12, Long Island University 11- In the opening game of their Florida trip, Army rallied and scored 3 runs in the ninth inning to top Long Island University. Clint Moore, Ben Koenigsfeld, and J.T. Watkins each had 3 hits to lead the Black Knights. Kevin McKague had a homer. Joey Henshaw allowed 2 hits in one inning to pick up his second win of the season.

Yale 9, Army 6- With Army leading 5-3 in the top of the seventh, Yale scored 4 runs in the eighth and 2 runs in the ninth to defeat the Black Knights. Steve Cummings takes the loss for Army. Army loaded the bases in their ninth but was only able plate 1 run.

Florida 9, Army 3- Army and Florida were tied, 2-2, going into the bottom of the fifth. However, the No. 6 ranked Gators scored runs in each of their remaining innings to get the win. Ben Koenigsfeld had a long home run to left-center field for Army.

Army 13, Eastern Illinois 6- Ben Koenigsfeld blasts a grand slam to lead four-home run Army barrage. Shaun Wixted and Brandon Hines blasted their first career homers as the Black Knights out-hit EIU, 13-6. Steve Cummings allows 5 hits in 6 innings and walks none to pick up the win.

Bradley 8, Army 6- Bradley pitcher Joe Bircher shuts down the Black Knights in the first 3 innings of a 7-inning game. Trailing 8-1 going into the ninth, the Braves withstood a furious 5-run Cadet seventh. Kevin McKague had 2 hits for Army. Matt Fouch allowed 6 hits in 5 innings to take the loss.

Bradley 3, Army 1- In the second game of Friday's doubleheader, Bradley again shut Army down in the first 3 innings. Leading, 1-0 going into the bottom of the sixth, Bradley plated 2 runs to take a 3-0 lead. Army was able to muster 1 run in the final inning to avoid the shutout. Logan Lee took the loss for the Black Knights after allowing 8 hits in 5 innings of work. Shaun Wixted extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a a seventh-inning double.

Ohio State 12, Army 2- No. 27 ranked Ohio State defeated Army, 12-2, in the finale of the Black Knight's Florida trip. The Cadet's Kirk Porter pitched an interesting game, striking out 9 while allowing 13 hits in 6 and 2/3s of an inning. Ohio State's Alex Wimmers also struck out 9. The Black Knights hung tough with the Buckeyes but Ohio State scored six runs in the ninth to seal the win. The loss dropped Army to 2-5 on their road trip and 6-7 overall.
