| Bobby Petrino was hired as head coach for the University of Louisville Cardinals on December 23, 2002. Petrino has previous experience with Louisville, having been the Cardinals offensive coordinator in 1998. He returned to Louisville after serving as the offensive coordinator at Auburn in 2002 and 3 years with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
